Introducing the SkyTeam Alliance

You’ve heard of the Star Alliance and the Oneworld Alliance. Now, we are introducing the SkyTeam Alliance.

The SkyTeam Alliance, just like the Star and Oneworld alliances, is a network of airlines which work together to make traveling seamless and hassle free.  By earning miles within an alliance, travelers will see more benefits throughout every stage of their travels and can easily redeem miles within their alliance.

The alliance’s headquarters is based in Amsterdam and is made up of 19 member airlines: Aeroflot, Aerolíneas Argentinas, AeroMexico, Air Europa, Air France, Alitalia, China Airlines, China Eastern, Czech Airlines, Delta, Garuda Indonesia, Kenya Airways, KLM, Korean Air, Middle East Airlines (MEA), Saudia, TAROM, Vietnam Airlines, and Xiamen Air. These airlines fly to over 1,150 destinations in over 175 countries worldwide.

When flying with different SkyTeam airlines within the same reservation, miles will be automatically credited to your account after booking with your frequent flyer number or after checking into your flight.

While many travelers may choose to input their frequent flyer number during booking or during their check-in, it is inevitable that it can be forgotten. However, this is not an issue when flying within the SkyTeam Alliance. The SkyTeam Alliance works with customers who forgot to input their frequent flyer number before leaving for their vacations.

Travelers can get credited for these miles by going into their loyalty program’s website and entering travel information. Requests will be confirmed within minutes and miles will be credited to your account automatically.

The SkyTeam Alliance also offers ‘SkyPriority.’ SkyPriority is the alliances benefit benefit system where those who remain loyal to their alliance will really be rewarded.

The SkyTeam Alliance offers multiple benefits through SkyPriority such as:

  • Priority check-in
  • Priority baggage drop off
  • Priority security lanes
  • Priority boarding
  • Priority transfers
  • Priority baggage handling
  • Priority Immigration (go through immigration faster using priority lanes)
  • Access to priority lanes at the ticket office
  • SkyPriority Finder

In addition to the perks offered, SkyTeam allows Elite Plus, First and Business Class customers access to upwards of 750 airport lounges worldwide. For more information on lounge locations, visit the SkyTeam Alliance’s lounge information page.
