On January 24, United is looking for new ways to improve customers’ overall experience. With the updated app, United intends to bring changes that are meaningful to travelers worldwide.

United’s new app still includes older features that allow customers to check their flight status and track their bags, but updates to the app include unique features that will enhance a Pointster’s overall experience while traveling with United.

Updates to the app allow travelers to change, cancel or rebook flights within minutes right on their app’s home screen. With this feature, the hassle of rescheduling a flight is a concern of the past. Customers are also able to view and change seat assignments, or even enhance their travel experience by adding Economy Plus seating, Premier Access, United Club passes, or travel bundles to their itinerary.

New features also include a “My Trips” tab, where customers can easily check into their flights, store virtual boarding passes, and access information, about their upcoming travel itineraries. The app gives customers the option to turn on push notifications that will alert them when flights have began boarding, as well as sending notifications about gate changes.

If customers choose to turn on push notifications, they will start to receive information about their upcoming flight 48 hours prior to their trip. They will have easy access to standby lists and updated maps to navigate through their desired airport.

Select flight include United Private Screening, a feature on the app that give customers the opportunity to watch TV shows and movies on their own devices. However, the app must be downloaded prior to taking off or with a connection to Wi-Fi.

United encourages its customers to “enroll in MileagePlus and earn miles with Mileage Plus programs. These miles can be used to book award travel within the app as well.

With an engaging and refreshing new look, the app will inspire travel and exploration by showing destination images even when a customers does not have an upcoming trip.
