Introducing United’s personal credit and prepaid cards, or what we’re calling the Pointster’s new best friends!
First up is the United Explorer Card:
With the United Explorer card, the possibilities are endless! Card members will benefit from priority boarding and will receive 25 percent back on United inflight purchases. United also guarantees that Explorer Card members will not be subject to foreign transaction fees.
With the Explorer Card, the cardholder and one accompanying traveler on the same reservation will each receive their first standard checked bag completely free on United-operated flights. To ensure that bags are checked for free, include our United MileagePlus number in reservations and ensure that tickets are purchased with the United Explorer Card.
Alongside these convenient benefits, cardholders will receive up to $100 for a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck fee credit as reimbursement for application fees when charged to their card. But the benefits don’t stop there. Members will also receive two United Club one-time passes each Cardmember anniversary. Enjoy beverages, snacks, WiFi, and much more in the United lounge!
Here are some other basic benefits to becoming a United Explorer Card member
-Earn 40,000 bonus miles after you spend $2,000 on purchases within the first three months of opening your account
-Earn two miles per $1 spent at restaurants and on hotel accommodations.
-Earn two miles per $1 spent on United purchases, including plane tickets, inflight food & beverages, and Wi-Fi
-Earn one mile per $1 spent on all other purchases
-Earn unlimited miles that NEVER expire, as long as your account remains open.
-Use miles for award travel on United.
-Premier upgrades on award tickers.
United MileagePlus Club Card:
In terms of travel, the United MileagePlus Club Card will be your new best friend. With this credit card, cardholders have access to a United Club membership ($550 value per year), two free checked bags for the cardholder and a guest, and will not be subject to transaction fees.
Cardholders will also have access to United’s Luxury Hotel and Resort Collection, a group of 900 “exquisite” hotels, resorts, lodges and spas. These locations will extend complimentary benefits to cardholders with each stay. Upon making a reservation with the Chase Card. United states that cardholders will receive a daily breakfast for two, a property-unique benefit, complimentary WiFi, room upgrades, early check-in and late check-out.
United MileagePlus Club Card members will also receive a 25 percent bonus on Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Points, upgrades, and other exclusive offers.
Here are some other basic benefits to becoming a United MileagePlus Club Card member:
-Earn 50,000 bonus miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases within the first three months of opening your account.
-Earn 1.5 miles per $1 spend on purchases.
-Earn two miles per $1 spent on tickers purchased from United.
-Earn unlimited miles that NEVER expire, as long as your account remains open.
-Use miles for award travel on United
-No close-in award booking fees on United tickets
-Premier upgrades on award tickets
As Pointsters, we all love rewards, but we also can’t forget about protection. With this card, United offers nine options for protection while traveling.
If a trip is interrupted or canceled, you will be reimbursed up to $10,000 per traveler and $20,000 per traveler for pre-paid purchases. This includes fares, tours, and hotels.
If your baggage is delayed over six hours, United “Baggage Delay Insurance” will reimburse you for essential purchases like toiletries and clothing for $100 per day for up to three days. In the event the luggage is lost or damaged by the carrier, United will reimburse travelers up to $3000 per person.
The cards’s protection options even cover the possibility of trip delays and reimbursements in the event that you are delayed more than 12 hours, stating “if your common carrier travel is delayed more than 12 hours or requires an overnight stay, you and your family are covered for unreimbursed expenses, such as meals and lodging, up to $500 per ticket.”
As if all the benefits were’t enough already, the MileagePlus Club Card gives members access to exclusive Chase and MileagePlus events. Alongside this, the card is accepted globally at 44.4 million locations in over 200 countries, meaning there are more places to earn points.
United TravelBank Card:
Use the TravelBank card and save money in style. With the TravelBank Card, $1 in TravelBank cash is equal to one actual dollar when used towards the purchases of a United ticket directly from the airline. TravelBank cash is easy to earn and works just like points, meaning Pointsters will love this feature.
With this card, travelers will get $150 in TravelBank cash after spending $1000 on purchases in the first three months their account is open, alongside enjoying 25 percent back as a statement credit when purchasing food, beverages, and in-flight WiFi paying with a TravelBank Card.
The card offers travelers the chance to earn 2% in TravelBank cash per every dollar spent on tickers from United. 1.5%on all other purchases, and there is no annual fee or foreign transaction fee.
United also offers travel and purchase protection plans with this card to ensure its customers are protected while spending. The card protects by offering:
-Auto Rental Collision Damage Waivers
-Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption Insurance
-Price Protection
-Purchases Protection

MileagePlus GO Visa Prepaid Card:
Last, but certainly not least, is the MileagePlus GO Visa Prepaid Car. With this card, travelers earn miles on qualifying signature purchases, up to 2,500 miles each month. There are not interest payments and no credit check on the card either.
Travelers will be able to use this card anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted and will also be able to reload money onto the card for repeat use.
United refers to it as a”Great option to manage expenses and spending” on an online page listing the benefits of the card, alongside assuring customers that it is FDIC insured through Republic Bank and Trust Company. Potential cardholders will have the option of five different designs for the card.
