MileagePlus Premier Status Qualification In 2020

Let’s explore how to qualify for United Airlines MileagePlus Premier status in 2020. Premier status gives you an elevated travel experience. Premier members enjoy benefits like complimentary access to Economy Plus, preferred seating, upgrades, priority boarding and so much more.

Now with the introduction of PlusPoints, it will give the traveler flexibility in customizing an approach to Premier Upgrades. Premier status is now measured by two types of qualifying activity earned during the calendar year (January 1 through December 31).

The two ways to qualify for United Airlines Premier status is through a combination of PQF and PQP or just PQP. So what is a Premier Qualifying Flight (PQF)? A PQF the number of flight segments flown, four of which need to be flown on United or United Express. A Premier Qualifying Point (PQP) is the base fare and any carrier-imposed surcharge of flight purchases, as well as seat purchases and any paid upgrades.

In 2o20, there’s more ways to earn PQP than ever:

• Economy Plus Seating
• Preferred Seat Purchases
• NEW MileagePlus Upgrade Award Co-Pay
• NEW Paid Upgrades
• NEW Flights ticketed and operated by our Star Alliance partners

So in short you need a combination of PQF and PQP or just more PQPs.

Here is a simple breakdown of each status level and the requirements needed to achieve premier status.

• Premier Silver: 12 PQF and 4000 PQP  or 5000 PQP
• Premier Gold: 24 PQF and 8000 PQP  or 10,000 PQP
• Premier Platinum: 36 PQF and 12,000 PQP or 15,000 PQP
• Premier IK: 54 PQF and 18,000 or 24,000 PQP
