Marriott Offers Free On-Site Testing At Select International Properties

Marriott announces plans to roll out complimentary COVID-19 testing to its guests staying at select international properties across the Caribbean and Mexico. This action follows Hyatt‘s recent decision to implement free testing as well.

As of recently, the U.S. requires all international travelers to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen or PCR within three days of entering the country. Marriott’s new offering will allow its guests to remain compliant with this policy when re-entering the U.S.

Marriott’s complimentary testing is applicable for up to two people per room for guests who stay three or more nights at select properties. Additional testing can be done at a charge.

The following locations are included in Marriott’s complimentary COVID-19 testing program:

  • JW Marriott Cancun Resort and Spa
  • Marriott Cancun Resort
  • The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun
  • Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa
  • W Punta de Mita
  • The Westin Resoirt and Spa, Puerto Vallarta
  • The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort
  • Solaz, a Lucury Collection Resort, Los Cabos
  • Zadun, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve
  • Aruba Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino
  • The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba

Another way Marriott is following in Hyatt’s footsteps is by offering up to 50% off on flexible extended stay rates if a guest isn’t able to travel back to the U.S. due to a positive test. At this time, only the above properties are offering guests free COVID-19 testing during their stay. Any guests staying with Marriott but not at these properties can expect to be directed by their hotel to a local testing center.

Marriott’s new initiative will incentivize American’s to visit their favorite Caribbean vacation spots, stimulating the region’s local economies. Simultaneously, travelers will still be in compliance with the U.S. testing-for-entry rule without the hassle of coordinating tests with local health centers. Although not quite as widespread as Hyatt’s offering, Marriott is heading in a promising direction.
