When things change, we can be sure that someone, somewhere is looking out for our best interest. In this case, the beloved American Express Centurion Card is introducing some exciting new changes to their program. Cardmembers, read on to learn how these upgrades will affect your account.
New Annual Fee
Let’s get to the bottom line first. The annual fee for the Centurion Card will be increasing to $5,000. The new fee will not be implemented until your renewal date rolls around, on or after April 1st of next year. Although you will be granted plenty of time before that fee changes, you don’t have to wait to enjoy all of the added benefits. Another thing you won’t have to wait for is your brand new Centurion Card. Featuring a newly designed titanium look, expect your card to be delivered within the next few weeks.
Now, for the fun part! What exciting new changes can Centurion cardholders look forward to? The new program covers just about everything you didn’t know you needed. For starters, Centurion has partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue to reward cardmembers with up to $250 in quarterly statement credits. That totals up to $1,000 in yearly credits. Not to mention, you’ll gain access to shopping experiences exclusive to Centurion cardholders.
For those who love to stay in shape (even if it’s not your thing, this might be a sign), you’ll go crazy over this complementary Equinox Destination Access membership. Keeping up with your fitness on the go has never been this easy. Enrolling with Equinox allows you access to over 100 fitness clubs suited with world-class personal trainers and spa services. With locations across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., this membership will help you keep up with your exercise goals while you travel. Why sacrifice one for the other when you can have both?
If you haven’t heard of The Private Suite yet, this might be your new favorite service. The best part is that you don’t even have to weigh out the options. The membership can already be yours along with your new Centurion Card. The Private Suite is a VIP terminal at LAX, secluded from the traffic and stressful airport lines. Additional benefits include private TSA screenings, a private suite to lounge in before takeoff, and a ride directly to your airplane. With a membership valued at $4,500, you’ll enjoy a peaceful, comfortable traveling experience simply for holding a Centurion Card.
Since it seems like American Express is committed to putting you at ease while you travel, their new partnership with CLEAR might intrigue you. CLEAR allows you to breeze through security at numerous airports and stadiums across the country. Using your Centurion Card to purchase a CLEAR membership will award you a credit up to $329 annually. The exact amount depends on how many family members you add to your account, with the maximum being three. You’ll be thanking Centurion when you skip the entire TSA line next time you travel. And if an emergency comes up and your trip is delayed or cancelled, Centurion has you covered. You’ll be eligible for reimbursement on non-refundable expenses in certain unexpected cases.
Finally, the Centurion Card makes all of your dreams of having a personal assistant come true. Promising to provide you with a team dedicated to managing your entire experience as a member, there’s never a bad time to ask for help (seriously, you’re covered seven days a week). Not to mention, you’ll be able to contact Centurion Servicing through a brand new messaging feature in the American Express App. You can take advantage of this enhanced service as soon as your account is renewed.
There are however a few more changes to the Centurion Card worth noting. Beginning on January 1, 2020, the $200 Airline Fee Credit will no longer act as a benefit. Following suit on that same day, the complimentary internet pass won’t be a benefit any longer either.
