Back by popular demand, American Express reintroduced the Rose Gold card, a revamped design display of the original Gold Card that contains all the same perks and promises.

Initially introduced in all its rose-hued glory in 2018, the Rose Gold card design went on hiatus during 2019 and 2020. After a recent survey to its customers, AMEX found that a majority of customers were interested in curating or choose their own card design, and thus, the Rose Gold design was reintroduced on Feb. 4.

Upon spending $4,000 within the first six months of card membership, cardholders will earn 60,000 membership rewards points. But that is not the only perk to the card membership. American Express Gold cardholders will earn three times the points for flights booked directly with airlines or on amextravel.com.

Additionally, members will earn four times the membership rewards points at supermarkets (up to $25,000 per calendar year) and restaurants, which includes takeout and delivery orders. However, customers will not earn additional points for purchases at restaurants located within another establishment, such as a restaurant located inside a hotel or casino, according to AMEX’s Card Member Agreement.

Membership rewards points are also offered on other eligible purchases, such as purchases for goods and services minus returns and other credits. Eligible purchases will not include “fees or interest charges, cash advances, person to person payments, purchases of gift cards, purchases of traveler’s checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, or purchases of other cash equivalents,” as outlined again in the Card Member Agreement.

American Express cardmembers will have the opportunity to pay in points for online purchases from Amazon, Best Buy, and more. The charge must occur in the U.S. or a U.S. territory, and be at least $1. The points will then be immediately deducted from the customer’s program account.

Not only will customers enjoy extensive amounts of points with their qualifying purchases, but they will also earn up to $120 in Uber Cash annually. The feature requires cardholders to add their American Express Gold or Rose Gold card to their Uber account, but nothing more. From there on out, enjoy $10 in Uber Cash monthly.

With all the perks and points, the $250 annual fee seems like nothing. For more information on the American Express Rose Gold and Gold Cards, click here.
